Marinated Cedar Plank Salmon

18 Jul

Cedar plank salmon is easy and delicious way to prepare salmon. The cedar gives nice flavor to the salmon and keeps it incredibly moist, plus there is no mess to clean up afterwards.  Remember to soak your plank several hours to prevent it from catching on fire. I have made the mistake before of not soaking the plank long enough. It was quite entertaining experience for our dinner guests as I was fighting the flames.

  • cedar plank, soaked
  • salmon fillet

Marinate ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup gluten free low sodium soy sauce (Mirin)
  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 tbs honey
  • 1 tbs ginger
  • 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Mix all of the marinate ingredients together. Place the salmon in a ziplock bag and pour the marinate into the bag. Marinate in a fridge for an hour skin side up.

Heat your gas or charcoal grill to about 350°F or a medium heat-setting. Place the cedar plank on the grill and lay the salmon on top, skin side down.  Save the marinate. Grill for about 15  minutes, brushing some marinate on top of the fish after few minutes. However, do not use rest of the marinate on the fish after it has been cooked.
